Empowerment sits at the heart of Alacran Group, a big word with the power to transform people’s mindsets in an even bigger way. This brand identity design project centers on positive messages that uplift the human spirit while uniting us as one.
The logo consists of the number 3 and an inverted number 6 as its base. Together, they form three perfect circles, marked by symmetry and stability, to form an iconic and modern logo for Alacran (“Scorpion” in Spanish). Everything is surrounded by a circle - representing our planet; a half-moon on the left represents the first light on the horizon as viewed from outer space. In print, copper foil over dark blue paper gives the brand a sophisticated appearance and texture.
Colors create moods- diverse tones and shades speak to the brand’s dynamic nature; complementary secondary colors complete the look.
LAYOUT DESIGN
An imaginary grid exists in the layout of every communication, print and screen. In this grid, every number is the sum total of the two numbers that precedes it (for example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8). This sequence named after an Italian mathematician, the Fibonacci Sequence, may be found throughout nature- from flower petals and galaxy spirals to Romanesco broccoli and the bones of the human hand.
Following this grid allows multiple elements in any given design to come together in perfect balance, a vision of appealing rhythms and harmonies. The Fibonacci sequence is typically used in concert with the golden ratio, a closely-related principle also stemming from math.

Showcase artistic expression and emotions through an instrument, voice or body.
The website shifts away from all industry websites, making an immerse experience using sound in a 3D space in real-time in your browser. A Horizontal navigation throughout the site engages our visitors with curiosity to find out more about the company. Inspired by the night sky and a tone matrix, the Starscape is a visual instrument that lets your create melodies by connecting stars in a 3D space. Each constellation is saved for other users to experience as they visit. The Starscape brings the message of Alacran’s to life by giving every user an opportunity to express themselves on the website.
With this approach, the homepage becomes a forever changing soundscape that will different every time a user visits.
The web experience was produced in collaboration with Toronto-based agency Jam3.
