Creativity, imagination, sound and color™

Brand identity built on strategy, designed with meaning, and made to last.

Hi, I am

PIERO

CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, SOUND & COLOR®

A brand designer, art director, and creative strategist with 20 years of work across six continents.

My practice is boutique by choice. Every project gets my full attention, from the first conversation to the final file. You work directly with me, the person doing the thinking and the making.

Services —

I design from strategy to execution. Visual systems that give a brand its foundation and the flexibility to grow without losing shape.

Every identity I build starts with thinking, research, positioning, and a clear creative direction. Then the strategy becomes visible: marks, color, and type where every element has a reason.

  • Brand Strategy → Research, positioning, and competitive mapping. The direction is defined before a mark is made.
  • Naming → Words that set the tone before any visual does.
  • Logotypes & Marks → Built as systems. Designed to scale, move, and adapt.
  • Visual Identity Systems → Color, type, and graphic language working as one, with room for the brand to evolve.
  • Iconography → Custom icon systems that extend the brand’s visual language.
  • Illustration → Bespoke artwork that gives a brand depth and character.
  • Brand Guidelines → A clear playbook for everyone who touches your brand.

The shelf is the most competitive space a brand ever occupies. I design packaging that earns its place: clear, considered, and built to communicate value at a glance.

  • Packaging Design → Structural and visual systems that stand out and signal quality.
  • Labelling → Informative, compliant, and visually coherent.
  • Editorial Design → Brochures, catalogues, and print with strong visual logic.
  • Print Craft → Paper stocks, finishes, and textures chosen to make the brand tangible.

02.-

Screens are where most people meet a brand first. I design digital experiences with the same precision as everything printed.

  • Web Experiences (UX/UI) → Sites and platforms where usability and identity move together.
  • Motion & Interaction → Animation and interactive moments that bring the identity to life on screen.

03.-

An identity only works if every application respects it. I direct shoots, campaigns, and content so the brand speaks with one voice across every channel.

  • Art Direction → Creative guidance that keeps every project aligned with the brand story.
  • Video Editing → Shaping content that carries the brand into motion.

Ro Marley Wines — Rebrand

Rohan Marley approached with a clear goal: reposition his French-produced wine line for the high-end market. The result is a three-expression system across Chardonnay, Rosé, and Merlot built on restraint. Each label centers a heraldic lion crest and the ROMARLEY wordmark, unified by the Latin line “Quisque intus habet leonis” (everyone carries a lion within). All three labels feature a torn deckle edge on Neenah New Stable Vellum in Titanium White (89gsm), with the Merlot inverting to a black label for depth on the darkest wine. Craft lives in the materials: Gold, Rose Gold, and Silver semi-matte hot-stamping shift by variety, body copy is rendered in engraved ink high relief, and the certification seal is foil-stamped and embossed. The Rohan Marley signature and Rastafari flag are silver hot-stamped, then printed over in green, yellow, and red for a metallic feel. TT Ramillas serifs paired with TT Norms Pro detail lines give the system both warmth and order.

Frequently Asked Questions —

Brand identity and packaging design for brands that need to mean something. Most of my work is in spirits, food and beverage, music and entertainment, hospitality, and athletics. I also design the systems that surround an identity — stationery, print collateral, brand guidelines, digital assets, and environmental graphics. If your project requires a visual language that holds together across every touchpoint, we should talk.

01.-

I’m based in Victoria, BC, and I work with clients across six continents. I’ve designed for brands in Peru, the US, Brazil, Australia, Panama, and across Europe and Asia. Most of my process happens in silence and deep focus — location matters less than clarity. Video calls, shared boards, and structured feedback keep everything moving regardless of time zone.

02.-

Every project starts with discovery — understanding what you stand for, who you’re speaking to, and where you want to go. From there, I develop concepts rooted in strategy, not decoration. Deliverables are scoped to your needs and may include logo and visual identity system, color and typography specifications, brand guidelines, and application designs (packaging, stationery, digital, or environmental). Before any work begins, I provide a detailed hour estimate so you know exactly what the investment covers.

03.-

A full identity system typically takes 8 to 12 weeks. Packaging projects with production requirements add 2 to 4 weeks. Rush timelines are possible when the brief is tight and feedback is focused. I don’t take on projects that require cutting corners — the work suffers, and so does the relationship. The hour estimate I provide includes a realistic timeline based on your scope.

04.-

You work directly with me. Every sketch, every decision, every presentation comes from the same person who read your brief and asked the first questions. When a project needs motion, development, or photography, I bring in collaborators I’ve worked with for years — people who understand that craft and deadline are not opposing forces. No account managers. No handoffs. No surprises. And you only pay for the hours I work, not for overhead you never see.

05.-

I work by the hour, not by flat fee. My rate depends on the complexity and demands of the work:

Rate When It Applies

  • $75/hour | Straightforward, well-defined projects with clear parameters
  • $90/hour | Standard brand identity and packaging work — most projects fall here
  • $120/hour | Complex systems, tight timelines, or projects requiring specialized production oversight

Before we start, I estimate the total hours based on your specific requirements. This gives you a clear picture of the investment before any work begins. Here are typical starting points:

  • Logo design From $9,000 CAD
  • Full brand identity From $18,000 CAD
  • Packaging design From $12,000 CAD

These are starting points, not ceilings. A logo for a single-location café and a logo for a spirits brand with global distribution require different depths of research, exploration, and refinement. The estimate I provide after our first conversation will reflect your actual scope — no padding, no surprises.

06.-

A clear brief helps, but I don’t expect you to have everything figured out. What I need: your story, your audience, your competition, and your ambition. What you have — a name, a product, a market, a hunch — is usually enough to begin. The first conversation is where we find the rest. After that, I deliver a detailed estimate with hour projections and deliverables before any work begins.

07.-

Both. I’ve refined existing identities that needed discipline and clarity, and I’ve built new ones from nothing. The question isn’t whether to keep or discard — it’s whether what you have can carry the meaning you need it to carry. If it can, we build around it. If it can’t, we start fresh. The hour estimate will reflect whichever path makes sense for your goals.

08.-

I design for production. I specify materials, finishes, and print methods — foil stamping, embossing, paper weights, die lines — and I work directly with printers and manufacturers to make sure what gets approved is what gets produced. I don’t broker print; I oversee it, because the gap between screen and physical object is where most identities fall apart. Production oversight hours are included in the estimate when needed.

09.-

You own everything. All files, all guidelines, all working documents. If you need ongoing creative direction, identity stewardship, or additional applications down the line, we continue on the same hourly basis — no retainers required unless you want one. Some clients have stayed with me for fifteen years — not because they’re locked in, but because the work keeps evolving.
